DISCOVER SCV’S GREAT OUTDOORS

FIND ADVENTURE

FROM HIKING TO BIKING AND MORE
The Santa Clarita Valley has SO many things to do outdoors. The hills and mountains surrounding the valley have natural hiking trails while the city and neighborhoods have miles and miles of biking trails and walking trails, called Paseos. The Paseos are landscaped, lit, and paved walking trails that meander throughout the neighborhoods. Bike Paths run throughout the entire Santa Clarita Valley and are paved and generally offer bridges or tunnels and major streets.

HIKING

The Santa Clarita Valley has wonderful hiking trails that are maintained by the City of Santa Clarita or Los Angeles County. Here are some of our favorite trails:

  • Ironhorse Trail
  • Promenade Trailhead
  • Auto Center Trailhead
  • South Fork Trailhead
  • Camp Plenty Trailhead
  • Lost Canyon Road Trailhead
  • Central Park Trailhead
  • Towsley Canyon Park
  • Elsmere Canyon Trailhead
  • Whitney Canyon Waterfalls
  • Walker Ranch Trailhead

HIKES WITHIN
A SHORT DRIVE

Griffith Park:
Griffith Park is a perfect morning/afternoon trip from SCV, as it is only 30 miles away! If you’re looking for a family friendly hike, Ferndell is my favorite trail at Griffith Park because of the beautiful forest-like oasis, easy parking, and it’s home to the yummy Trails Cafe. From Ferndell, you can take the West Observatory Trail where you’ll find a 2.1 round trip hike to Griffith Observatory with beautiful panoramic views of the city.

Hollywood Sign Hike:
This famous Los Angeles landmark is under an hour away from Santa Clarita, making it the perfect outing for you to feel like you’re in a Hollywood movie for the day!

PARKS

Thankfully, the master plan for Santa Clarita includes a lot of open space and parks for the residents to enjoy. In fact, there are over 35 city maintained parks in Santa Clarita and several more that are county maintained in Stevenson Ranch and Castaic. Find your favorite park here »

OPEN SPACE

  • Quigly Canyon Open Space
  • Newhall Pass Open Space North Trailhead
  • Golden Valley Ranch Open Space
  • Michael D. Antonovich Open Space

Why Mammoth Lakes is One of Santa Clarita’s Favorite Destinations

Mammoth is an easy 4.5 drive from the Santa Clarita area. Unlike driving to Southern California mountain communities, the drive is smooth, straight, and is almost completely a divided highway, which I love.
